Supposedly, according to some Roan Mountain folks, it was a 19th century cabin that ended up abandoned, and then in more recent years (1950's ish) it was occupied by an old hermit that was known for being cranky with "trespassers". Each time I go by it, my mind always starts wandering, wondering about the house that used to be connected to this chimney, the occupants, etc!!Brenda W.http://www.brendajwiley.com/hiking.htmlnoreply@blogger.com
