Grandfather Mountain Profile

I'm not quite sure what to call this shot -- because there's already a Profile View Trail on Grandfather Mountain that leads up to an impressive stone face of an old man (click here for more). The view above is of an old man with a long beard lying down. The most beautiful shot of this profile (taken by Hugh Morton) can be seen on the Grandfather Mountain website. I'm still on the hunt for the perfect spot - please leave a comment if have any suggestions. This profile view can be seen along Highway 105 heading out of Boone towards Linville, NC in the Foscoe community. The tough part is to avoid getting power lines in the shot. Check out Marie's beautiful angle on this shot at the Blue Ridge Blog!

By the way... click here for Grandfather Mountain's fall color report. And click here for a web cam that shows this same profile view. [In case you're wondering...the photo above was taken two weeks ago!]
