This weekend is my twentieth high school reunion -- and I'm sorry I won't be able to join my classmates in Morris, Illinois for the celebration. "So what have you been up to?" Reunion or not, I always get asked that when I go home, because I've been away now for so long. I never really know how to answer that given that so much of life feels like these two photos! It would've been a hoot (as they say 'round here) to see everyone again. It's always strange to see old friends after so many years apart, it's like time's stood still and you pick up the conversation, the memories and the jokes right where you left off. Happy 20th class of '87!
These two 'leaf swirl' shots were taken exactly a minute apart, but changes in sunlight and currents produced very different results. I took a bunch of shots, but it was only when the sun disappeared behind the clouds that I was able to keep the shutter open for four seconds without overexposing the photo. There's probably one of those life lessons here if it wasn't after midnight.
