Above: Bald Eagle, Grandfather Mountain Wildlife Habitat. Last time I was at Grandfather, I was amazed when I heard one of the workers say that this particular eagle has been at Grandfather Mountain since 1981. Their website says that the life expectancy for bald eagles in captivity is 47 years, 25 years in the wild.
