marvelously intricate

Like snowflakes, the human pattern is never cast twice. We are uncommonly and marvelously intricate in thought and action, our problems are most complex and, too often, silently borne.
--Alice Childress (1920-1994) American playwright and author

Above: The snowy view as our plane banked on the way to landing at the Tri-Cities Airport.  I can't identify the exact location of the scene above, but it somewhere northeast of the airport -- in the middle thumbnail, you see Clinch Mountain in the foreground (looking south) -- and in the bottom thumbnail you can see I-81 and Bays Mountain in the distance (looking northwest).

  1. Hi Mark! Thanks for all the great posts. I enjoy your work and look forward every day to seeing your posts. There is so much beauty in this area - I'm glad you are able to catch that beauty and share it with a world-wide audience via the web.

I think I know the area in the first picture. It's just north of Bristol, Va. It appears to be shot facing southwest and shows Benhams Rd (runs bottom left corner to upper right corner) and Rich Valley Rd (intersects near the center of the picture and runs toward the lower right). A quick check shows the coords to be approx N 36° 40.740 W 082° 12.305. You can find on Google Maps using "benhams rd and rich valley rd, bristol va".

Again, thanks for sharing all of your wonderful work!

  2. Wow Rob, I think you're right. that's great. Thanks for identifying the photo! You must really know that area! And thanks for your encouraging comments!
