live well
The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be
useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference
that you have lived and lived well.

Still lots of green out in the Clark's Creek area of Unicoi County -- and not much water... just in case anyone was thinking about visiting Sill Branch Falls, Pine Ridge Falls or Buckeye Falls. Even so, Clark's Creek Road offers a beautiful and peaceful drive through the woods. (click here for directions and descriptions of the various trails and waterfalls found there).

looking back
When I look back on all these worries, I remember the
story of the old man who said on his deathbed that he had had a lot of trouble
in his life, most of which had never happened.

autumn awe
The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its
own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he
contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous
structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a
little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity.

life but this.
