Crossing Over

Here's a photo taken this past fall on the trail leading to the Rough Ridge Overlook (mile 302.8 of the Blue Ridge Parkway) and some quotes to help us ring in the New Year!

Youth is when you're allowed to stay up late on New Year's Eve. Middle age is when you're forced to.
--Bill Vaughn

An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.
--Bill Vaughan

Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better man.
--Benjamin Franklin

One resolution I have made, and try always to keep, is this: To rise above the little things.
--John Burroughs

I really enjoy your photos and comments. Everything seems so peaceful. It is nice to see places I have hiked from a different perspective. Happy New Year to you!

  3. Hi Mark,
I opened AT today and it was still my birthday, December 31. It was so appropriate for me...crossing over. You see, I lost my Dad last week and it just was a sweet reminder that he & my Mom are not gone, they have just gone ahead.
You are a blessing to me.
