abundant living

You've gotta' dance like there's nobody watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth.
(And speak from the heart to be heard.)
--William W. Purkey (b.1929) author and professor

Been workin' on the ole blog and once again changed the look of it. What prompted this was the discovery I could add tabs. After 3 1/2 years of blogging, and over 1,000 posts, it's started to get a bit cluttered around here. So hopefully the tabs will be a way for me to tidy things up and help you find what you're looking for.  I like that I can put my own photos in the background -- or use one of the dozens that Blogger provides (like what you see there now). This will probably be a work in progress for a while -- so bear with me.  Hope you like it!

I've got room for more tabs -- any suggestions? :)

  1. Mark, I get your blog posts via Google Reader, so generally do not get to the blog itself, but have headed over here now to take a look at your new interface. The design is very clean, easy to navigate, and visually appealing. You're right ... the tabs are nice.

For using one of the additional tabs, how about an ABOUT tab, that talks about you, your photography, etc. I know you have that currently under your PROFILE section, but I generally look first for an ABOUT tab for those things.

Plus, you could go into more detail about your photography, your other interests, etc (folks really are interested in that!!) Be sure to include a link to that newspaper article that ran a while back in the Elizabethton Star that profiled you and your work!

  2. I love the new look! Funny that today I myself was trying to come up with a new look and figure out all the new ways to streamline my blog. You have certainly given me some ideas!
    Love your picture today!

  3. Thanks for the encouragement, Brenda -- I'll work on a new 'About' section. It's something I've needed to do, but I really don't like writing about myself. :) I took a look at your blog...I liked your hiking section - I especially liked the Transylvania County waterfalls you wrote about. I need to check them out.
Thanks Debbie for you note as well. I looked on your blog as well - the 'Sit n' Dip' made my day. :)

  4. Nice changes that you've added since yesterday!! Thanks for your nice comments re: my web page. I need to make more regularly planned time to update it on a more regular basis.

And, thanks to your new design leading me to your Best Hikes section, I've got a hike planned out for tomorrow (day 1 of a 2 week vacation!) --- Carvers Gap to Roan Mountain Balds!
