solitude

Language... has created the word "loneliness" to express the pain of being alone. And it has created the word "solitude" to express the glory of being alone.
--Paul Johannes Tillich (1866-1965) American theologian and philosopher

Taking in the magnificent view from Grandfather Mountain.

Update: Light snowfall fell on Grandfather Thursday night...video here.

  1. Wonderful photograph. I love the word "solitude." That's how we feel when the tourists have gone and we have the trails pretty much to ourselves again.

  2. This is best place to spend your vacations, honey moons and special holidays. It is one of the best tranquil and serene places of the world as well.
