Shooting the Moon

Here are two shots of the moon from this past week. The one above was taken yesterday just after midnight from my front porch. The other is from earlier this week when I was taking pictures of a sunset over Buffalo Mountain (I still need to post a couple of those pictures). My purpose in posting these shots today is to draw attention to the fact that there is a total lunar eclipse tomorrow (Saturday) night. At sunset, look to the east to see the eclipse already in progress. When the moon is fully eclipsed by the earth's shadow (around 6:20 EST), it will appear a reddish color. Click here and here for more information. For an interesting site which offers tips on photographing a lunar eclipse, click here. Hopefully the weather will cooperate (Weather Underground says it will be partly cloudy).
