Goslings

I came across this scene of two families of Canadian geese in Unicoi County, TN. In all, I counted 15 goslings (a.k.a. baby geese!) Mama goose and papa goose are extremely devoted to each other -- they mate for life and both protect the nest and the young. These adorable, newly-hatched goslings will turn into awkward-looking, gray, fuzzy birds within a week -- and will learn to fly only 9 weeks after hatching!

  1. I landed on this blog via Google when I was trying to identify a little dead snake I found this morning on a walk (looks much like the garter snake in your picture). You have a really beautiful set of photographs here.
