The Awakening

Springtime is the land awakening. The March winds are the morning yawn.
--Quoted by Lewis Grizzard (1946-1994) in his 1979 book, Kathy Sue Loudermilk, I Love You

You may have noticed in yesterday's post, there wasn't a lot of color in the landscape at Flat Rock in North Carolina. I did spot this bush there with its bright reddish stems and buds. I'm not exactly sure what this plant is, but its vivid color foreshadows the spring awakening -- as do the roaring winds.
