Through this blog I've met so many wonderful people from this region, like Ed and Janice Honeycutt, owners of an organic farm and campground in the Limestone Cove Community of Unicoi County, TN overlooking Unaka Mountain. Ed and Janice gave a great tour of their farm and the woods that back up to the Cherokee National Forest. Among the many wildflowers we found during our hike was the above shrub. At first we thought these blooms were blueberry blossoms, but it turns out that this is deerberry. What's the difference, you ask? Although it's related to blueberry, you can tell the difference in that the petals of deerberry are flared out. It gets its name from the fact that it produces berries that provide food for deer and other woodland animals.

cant wait till their campground is ready. We wanted to stay there in June, but it looks like it wont be ready till later in the year. The surrounding area is just beautiful.
